What is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional Intelligence is the ability to use both emotions and thinking in order to make better decisions for yourself and others. It pays to understand the likely emotional impact your decisions have on others in order to get the best results from them.

This is because we naturally make decisions based on our emotions, which we later justify by using logic.

Many of us still however, are not fully aware of our emotions - the various levels and types of emotions - and how they can either help or hinder us in our thinking.

Some of us also, still think that emotions are not important when it comes to making decisions, unaware that emotions provide valuable information to help us make better and smarter decisions. By not accessing information which emotions provide, we lose a valuable source with which to make informed decisions.

Our emotional intelligence training helps you become aware of and understand, yours and other peoples' emotions. It also helps you transform your emotions in order to improve your personal and business relationships (including customer service).

Quotations on the definition and importance of Emotional Intelligence

“Emotional Intelligence is the ability to perceive emotions, to access and generate emotions so as to assist thought.” Peter Salovey and John Mayer (These gentlemen were the first to research and publish their findings on Emotional Intelligence.)

“EQ skills improve relationships and decision-making.” Joshua Freedman (CEO - 6 Seconds Organisation, USA)

“No doubt emotional intelligence is more rare than book smarts but my experience says it is more important in the making of a leader.” Jack Welch, Former Chairman and CEO of General Electric
