What are Concept Papers?

Sometimes it is necessary to carryout a preliminary study of a subject before embarking on a detailed study and proposal. A Concept Paper serves to convince a decision-maker on the need for the proposal. A Concept Paper may also be written on the instruction of a decision maker who wants to explore a subject before investing time and effort in putting up a formal proposal.

What are Progressive Reports?

Progressive reports refer to periodic reports that need to be submitted on a regular basis for example on new employees, departments or work projects.

What are Investigative Reports?

Investigative reports are step-by-step analysis of a problem that has occurred, or which keeps occurring, to determine the causes and to recommend solutions. The subjects investigated could be anything from poor sales to why staff tend to take MCs on Mondays.

What are Proposals?

Proposals are reports suggesting something that management or department would like to be implemented. The reports usually show the reasons for the proposal, how it was analysed, and why and when it should be implemented. Typical subjects for proposals include new procedures, revision of established procedures and new methods or even introduction of machinery or software.

What are Staff Papers?

When a detailed proposal has to be written, it is termed a 'Staff Paper'. Staff Papers usually require research and are on serious matters such as a proposal to begin a new department or branch, to relocate or to revise pay scales and so on. Staff Papers are usually much longer than the other kinds of reports.
